The angel

"Tell me "  said the angel
"What did you learn today?
I looked at him
He returned my gaze
What could I learn nowadays ?
Not much I said ...and bowed my head
And tried to turn away
Why do you run ?....his words fell fast
Stop and look don't hurry past

I don't  need to save the world ... I whispered
That I cannot do
He raised his head and to one side said
If not you..then who
No ..my voice broke out
No... I'm not that man
I can only be the person you see
I have no master plan
The angel dropped his eyes
But smiled
So tell me what you learned today
And I will walk away

I can only be who I am
I'm not special, I can't save the world
But I can love and give...with no right to force change

His head looked up and our eyes met
"you've  learned the most you'll ever know
Stop carrying you're guilt like extra steps on snow
You are the man you grew to be
And no more do you owe..."
